Day 7 - Arriving at Alta

Bitterly cold today, thermals on top and bottom.

Bit of a mix up with breakfast as Horizon said to go to a different restaurant which involved going outside to get there. However, once there I was told to go back to the normal one 😱. As a result blood sugar decided to drop so had to go for orange juice afterwards.

Too cold to sit out for cigarette so just rested in my cabin, don't know why I'm so tired all the time. Decided to book on tonight's northern lights trip which takes us to the most likely camp to see the lights 🤞. Definitely going to need all my layers for that.

Just arrived at Alta 12.30 and the moon is out over the mountains again, about an hour earlier than yesterday.

Temperature down to -18 by the time I set off for my trip and it really felt it. 🥶.  They took us to a camp, only about 15 minutes away from the ship. They have 3 camps and decided this one would be the best for tonight.
Took a couple of photos to make sure my camera was set up, then adjourned to one of the teepees to warm up. Did wish I'd worn a second pair of socks (or even bought some of the Bama inserts) as even with foot warmers, after a couple of hours my heels were cold!

However,  it was all for nought anyway as the lights failed to show 😪😪😪 so finally went to the hut and decided to call it a night. Three hours of freezing temperatures and no lights was enough, especially as the cloud cover meant it was unlikely we saw anything anyway.

Maybe I'll get to see them from the ship tomorrow as we start our journey home.

Cruise Review
